Kelvedon Estate was settled by the Cotton Family in 1829

The property is 5300ha: rises from sea level to 350m, it runs 10kms to the west into Native Old Growth Forests. The property is predominately native pasture and old growth forests.

1200ha of Forest has been set aside under the Private Forest Reserve Program to remain protected in perpetuity -covenants attached to Titles. Included are areas of Blue Gum Forest protected for Swift Parrot Habitat.

Kelvedon was traditionally a fine wool sheep and Cattle property with some cropping, in 1998 the family diversified into Viticulture. Initially 1ha of Pinot clones were planted these vines form the foundation of the very successful Kelvedon Estate Label.

Currently 7ha are under production plus 2ha of recently planted Chardonnay vines for Sparkling- Vineyard breakdown is - 4.5ha of Chardonnay/3.5ha of Pinot/1ha of Sauvignon blanc.

Currently the Kelvedon Label produces Pinot and Sauvignon Blanc and for the 2010 vintage will add a special small batch of wild ferment Chardonnay.

The bulk of the vintage of Chardonnay and Pinot is sold to Bay of Fires — the Chardonnay fruit going into Arras and the Eileen Hardy Chardonnay.

Awards: Kelvedon Pinot gold medals awarded for 2003, 2006 and 2007 Vintages
The 2006 Pinot won Trophy for Best Tas Red in Royal Hobart International Wine Show
In 2009 Kelvedon Estate won the prestigious Vineyard of the Year

For the Cotton Family the venture into Viticulture has been a highly successful and rewarding diversification and blends well with the other enterprises traditionally carried out on the property.
